Im doing things differently...

I wont be showing most of my best photographs of 2022 until the end of the year. Why?

2021 was a great year and I was able to see so many wonderful places and purchase gear I never thought I'd have. From the busy streets of people in NYC, to the calm rivers of Grand Teton National Park, then photographing one of my best friends weddings, and wrapping the year up with my dream 500mm f4 prime lens and imaging wildlife. No doubt it was a good year. But I did it wrong.

In 2021 I thought for some reason, my best images could only be made when I went on these amazing trips. I thought that my favorite photographs could only be captured across the country in NYC or deep in the canyons of Flaming Gorge Reservoir. This led to me missing so many opportunities, where instead of letting my cameras rest on my table, I could have taken them out for a couple hours before sunset and possibly captured a great image. I thought that great photographs could only come to me, and though this can be true, I must put myself in situations where they can come. I found this out in December of 2021 where some of my best images were captured 20 minutes away from my house.

So in 2022 I am going to go out and photograph far more than I did in 2021. Ill have some big fun trips across the country yes, but a majority of my portfolio will be made up of images close to home. I will also be keeping most of my 2022 images hidden until the end of the year with the exception of my snapshot in July. This will help me personally with being motivated and excited to go out. Before, I would take a photograph I loved, post it on my website and feel accomplished only for that to cause me to set down my camera to collect dust until I went on my next big trip. By hiding my best pictures from everyone I will be excited to make this gallery the best one yet. So even though you wont see very many new pictures uploaded to my website, I haven't quit. I am avidly trying to have as many experiences as I can out in the field.
